Trial, billing, and cancelling
Here is exactly when the first charge lands, exactly how to stop it before it does, and where the binding terms say the rest.
The free trial
The trial asks for a card up front. The card is taken so the subscription can roll straight on if you decide to keep it; nothing is charged during the trial itself. Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged at all. How long the trial runs is shown on the plan page before you enter a card.
If you do nothing, the trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends. That is worth a calendar reminder two days before it ends if you are still deciding.
There is one trial per household. If your household has had one before, the plan page says so — billing starts the day you subscribe.
Use the trial on a genuinely difficult evening rather than a calm Saturday. That is the thing you are actually trying to find out about.
What it costs
- Monthly, billed each month.
- Yearly, billed once a year, which works out cheaper a month.
The plan page shows both — switch between Annual and Monthly at the top — and what a year saves, before you enter a card.
One price covers the household: the full activity library, unlimited family profiles, and unlimited household devices. There are no add-on packs, no per-child fee, and no hardware you have to buy — occo runs on screens you already own. Prices are in US dollars and are exclusive of any tax that applies where you live.
Ouva’s pricing page shows this alongside the plan for clinics and schools if you want the comparison.
How you pay
You create your account in occo and choose your plan there. Start from the signup page. For the card itself, occo hands you to Stripe’s secure checkout page, which brings you back to occo when you are done. occo does not store your card number; Stripe holds it and is certified at the highest level in the payments industry.
After that, everything is in occo’s Settings: Subscriptions for your plan, and Billing for the cards on file — add one, make one the default, or remove one you no longer use. The last card on file cannot be removed while the subscription is running, so add the new one first.
Switching between monthly and yearly
In Settings, Subscriptions, press Change billing period on your subscription. occo shows what changes, and what you will pay today, before you confirm.
- Monthly to yearly charges the year today, less what is left of the month you already paid for.
- Yearly to monthly charges a month today, and what is left of the year becomes credit on your account for the months after.
- During the trial nothing is charged, and the trial still ends on the same day.
Cancelling
Cancel at any time in the app: Settings, Subscriptions, then Cancel subscription. occo asks why, and you can skip the question. No phone call, no chat window designed to talk you out of it.
On a paid subscription, cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you keep access to what you have already paid for until that period runs out. Cancelling during the trial stops the conversion to a paid plan, so no charge is taken, and occo keeps working until the trial’s last day. Changed your mind before then? Press Resume subscription on the same page.
On price changes, statutory withdrawal rights for consumers in the EU and UK, and what happens to your data after an account is closed, the Terms of Service is the document that governs — read section 3 for billing and section 6 for what happens after cancellation. We would rather point you to it than paraphrase it here.
If a payment fails
If a charge does not go through, occo keeps working for a short while, and Settings, Subscriptions says Payment failed — please update your card, with the day your access will pause. Stripe tries the payment again on its own.
The quickest fix is to add a working card under Settings, Billing: the outstanding payment is taken from it straight away. If the date passes first, occo pauses until the payment goes through. If it never does, Stripe stops trying after a few weeks and the subscription ends; to come back after that, you subscribe again.
If something looks wrong on your bill
Email support@playocco.com with the email address on the account and the date and amount of the charge you are asking about. The same address can send you a copy of a receipt. Please do not send card numbers by email — we never need them, and Stripe already has what it needs.
